- Following approval by the regulatory authorities, the development cooperation between KPIT and ZF was transferred to QORIX, which will now operate independently.
- QORIX will develop and distribute world-class middleware stacks for functional-safe and deterministic applications in software-defined vehicles.
- Experienced management team consists of Markus Schupfner (CEO) and Dr. Nico Hartmann (CTO).
Munich (Germany) – Following the approval of all regulatory requirements, middleware specialist QORIX GmbH is now an independent company. The founding companies KPIT Technologies Ltd. and ZF Friedrichshafen AG are its shareholders. Key offerings include QORIX middleware product lines – “Classic”, “Adaptive” and “Performance” for software-defined vehicles (SDV). All product lines are designed for safety-critical applications.
The software company QORIX is headquartered in Munich and opened a subsidiary, QORIX India Private Limited, in the Indian city of Pune in May 2024. Over the course of the year, more than 300 employees will expand the QORIX presence in Germany and India. The company, led by Markus Schupfner (CEO) and Dr. Nico Hartmann (CTO), develops and distributes open and scalable middleware products and solutions for the mobility ecosystem.

“Based on a powerful product range, QORIX will become a strategic partner for various OEM SOP programs”, said Markus Schupfner, CEO of QORIX. “We are very excited to grow QORIX, which will benefit the entire automotive industry. Our QORIX middleware solution enables easy reuse of existing legacy software while up-integrating with centralized high-performance computing and reducing time-to-market for software integration. This is a predominant challenge and, thus, improves the functional portfolio over lifetime for our customers.”
“The new technical concepts and paradigms support signal- and service-orientated architecture by managing data and runtime determinism”, said Dr. Nico Hartmann, CTO at QORIX. “It allows isolation of data flow from control flow, thus enabling powerful supervision mechanisms to guarantee determinism in deployment scenarios over the lifetime of a software system. Software integration is greatly enhanced by consequent separation of design from deployment. Together with configuration as code, turnaround times for deployment changes shrink to minutes without rebuilding.”
Introducing QORIX Middleware
In today’s automotive software ecosystem, the heterogenous nature of applications and software integration on performance platforms becomes critical. While building middleware stacks, open source software has been considered as one important approach along with AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture). QORIX Performance, the flagship offering, converges the strengths of AUTOSAR and open source.
QORIX Performance
It is a comprehensive approach to design and integrate mixed mode applications containing signal-based control systems, data-oriented pipelines and service-focused components. QORIX Performance solves the SDV design and integration challenges for safety-critical performance applications: The QORIX Performance stack is enabled for functional safety and security on high-performance compute, manages ever-increasing software complexity and up-integration by keeping complete control of the architecture for customers and, as an additional plus, provides increased performance for your computing needs. Therefore, it enhances functional portfolio over lifetime using containerization and hypervisor technology.
QORIX Classic and QORIX Adaptive
QORIX solutions on AUTOSAR-based standards will be QORIX Classic and QORIX Adaptive. QORIX Classic is an ASIL-D certified AUTOSAR Classic compliant solution. QORIX Adaptive is an ASIL-B certified and AUTOSAR Adaptive compliant solution (for service-oriented architectures).
QORIX Developer
The QORIX middleware stack is further strengthened by QORIX Developer. QORIX Developer is the tooling approach of QORIX, a cloud-native software development kit (SDK) directly integrating into GIT-based development philosophy and DevOps-driven automation. This is achieved by radically designing human-readable configuration artifacts as code. The SDK is built on DevOps-friendly, command line interface (CLI)-based tools, designed with performance as guiding principle in mind.
